Beginning of the End

Let the month of May mark the beginning of the end for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Last week, the most liberal members of the House of Representatives voted to surrender in Iraq within the next 9 months. The measure failed 255 to 171. Gabby joined Harry Mitchell and our Republican members of the House in voting against the bill.

A line has been drawn in the sand. Gabby has been serving to the pleasure of the most left-wing people in Washington. She has clearly shown her true colors, that she is no moderate, but in fact, an ultra-liberal, an ideal that few people in America can be elected from. By voting against this bill, she has started a ripple effect within the ranks of the Democratic Party. In 2006, Joe Lieberman, the Democrats 2000 nominee for Vice President was backstabbed by his own party in the primary of his 2006 re-election bid to the Senate. It was at this time, that the hardcore leftists came out of the woodwork to oust someone who had not stood rank-and-file with them. Ultimately, sanity prevailed, and Joe Lieberman, the sane Democrat on Iraq, was re-elected as an Independent.

This is now Gabby’s fate as a Congresswoman. Because she has not voted for this ultra-liberal bill on Iraq, her re-election primary will consist of her versus the ultra-left. Like Joe Lieberman, her fellow Congressmen will jump on the bandwagon to oust her for not being one of them.

So now Gabby has a choice. Does she actually develop into a real leader, and do what is right for our country, our troops, and Iraq? Or does she fall in line with Grijalva and Pelosi, and stay on track as a member of the radically left? Either way, Gabby is doomed. If she does not fall in line, the ultra-left will oust her. If she gets in line, the voting public will see her for what she really is, and oust her.

It is the beginning of the end for Gabrielle Giffords.
